Jewellery designer and Central Saint Martins grad Emma Sharp had the brainwave that created Coops in 2012: gravity-defying earrings that rely only on friction, eliminating the need for piercing. Rather than the painful bulldog-clip clamp of other piercing-free earrings, the Coops range needs a simple squeeze to stay in place. Despite the ingenuity of the mechanism, however, it’s the clean-lined geometric simplicity of the designs that made Coops a hit, seeing them taken up by forward-thinking shops such as Colette in Paris, Tomorrowland in Tokyo and of course Clerkenwell London, and style-setters including Kate Moss, Quentin Jones and, ahem, Jess Meyer. The current collection includes 11 designs, ranging from stars and hearts to classic circles, in gold, rose gold, silver and black.
After wearing Coops for two years and being deluged in compliments as a result, we decided we probably ought to represent them. Zetteler is very happy indeed to support Emma and the Coops team with their publicity and marketing outreach and to champion their beautifully simple designs.
