Based by the sea in Brighton, Studio Makgill is a graphic design agency set up by branding wizard Hamish Makgill. With a particular love of print (hence their long-standing relationship with G. F Smith), the studio makes ‘beautifully simple design’ and compelling brand identities for a wide-ranging but select clientele, including the likes of James Joyce, H Furniture and U+I. Studio Makgill has a particular talent for stripping away the unnecessary and drawing out the essential, resulting in wonderfully clean, eye-catching and memorable design. Increasingly, they’re being lured beyond the confines of print and web design into other areas, including furniture, and we’re incredibly excited to see what they come up with next…
Having worked with Studio Makgill on a number of projects for G . F Smith, we were thrilled when Hamish invited us to help promote his studio’s work – especially because a) it’s so good it largely promotes itself, and b) Studio Makgill have historically done little publicity (part of their ‘keep it simple’ philosophy. Now, we’re helping the studio develop its publicity strategy and shouting about their work every chance we get.
