Trained at Central St Martins, Wilfrid Wood is an East London-based artist and sculptor whose work is recognisable to a generation. He began his career making heads for Spitting Image puppets, showing a gift for caricature and satirical wit that persists throughout his work today. Meticulously detailed in execution, unfailingly humorous in effect, his busts and figurines are ribald delights. Numerous brands and publications commission Wilfrid’s ‘paintings in Plasticine’ for editorial spreads or in-store displays; the rest are largely created for his own twisted pleasure.
Zetteler championed Wilfrid’s work because, frankly, we love it. We helped Wilfrid with his publicity strategy, shouting about his latest creations and supported his ventures in every way.
We catch up with the plasticine guru on switching model-making for drawing for new exhibition.
