Opened in 2017, Zander K is one of five hotels in the De Bergenske collection – a group of proudly individual properties in the centre of Bergen, Norway, that includes hotels of every size and style. Of the five, Zander K is the most modern-minded member of the family; an urbane 249-bedroom retreat that couldn’t be more different from its little sister Villa Terminus, just down the road. Created by Swedish architects Claesson Koivisto Rune and including unique interior features custom-designed by the firm, Zander K is spread between three buildings – a 1920s bike shop, a 1930s parking garage and a new addition in between. Inside, a palette of soft blues, whites and greys is combined with local woods and stone, creating a feeling of calm and a connection to the natural landscape surrounding the city. In Bergen, you can’t escape the rain, so Zander K embraces it, celebrating the region’s infamous climate with recurrent motifs in its design features and original artworks. In a city celebrated for its design innovation and creative character, Zander K is the perfect fit.
