Milan 2018: Mutant Matter Now Open

No doubt one of the most forward thinking shows of this year’s Milan Design Week, the collaborative exhibition between design futures agency FranklinTill and experimental design collective Dutch Invertuals, Mutant Matter, launches today at Spazio O in Milan’s Isola neighbourhood.

Building on FranklinTill founders Kate Franklin and Caroline Till’s much-lauded book Radical Matter, which the duo launched in March, Mutant Matter is the result of experiments by 10 Dutch Invertuals designers developing cutting-edge materials and recycling, reevaluating and repurposing others to form radically new methods of making.

Alongside thought-provoking projects that push the perimeters of design thinking, Mutant Matter will host a talks programme curated by Kate Franklin and Caroline Till. Today at 4pm the duo question to what extent waste is a design issue, and tomorrow at 4pm they explore the distinctions between organic and human-made matter. This is one show you really would be short-sighted to miss.
