There aren’t many people as passionate or knowledgeable about wood as the American Hardwood Export Council (aka AHEC). For over a quarter of a century, AHEC has been the international voice of the US hardwoods industry, representing the thousands of individual forest landowners and timber companies across North America who are engaged in the production and export of timber – from small family-run sawmills to major flooring makers. AHEC’s mission is to help these businesses reach new international markets – mainly through its non-profit programme to communicate the performance and aesthetic properties of hardwoods to architecture and design communities in more than 35 countries worldwide. Alongside providing technical information and networking support, AHEC drives numerous highly ambitious creative collaborations and is prominently involved with high-profile exhibitions and events, such as the London Design Festival and 3daysofdesign. By forging ever-stronger connections with the global design community, AHEC aims to increase the use of responsibly forested hardwoods in design and construction.
Zetteler works with AHEC’s European team to highlight its wide-ranging roster of design and architectural collaborations across the continent. We help build their creative network, and provide strategic and editorial support to their quest to champion sustainable hardwoods practical, environmentally responsible, and aesthetically desirable architectural and design materials.
