Torbjørn Anderssen and Espen Voll take a consciously non-dogmatic approach to design, creating objects of beauty, attraction and relevance. Although responding to the cultural currents of the time, their eponymous practice strives to cultivate a sense of freedom in design – the feeling that anything could happen. Their Oslo-based studio, Anderssen & Voll, may have officially been founded in 2009, but the pair have been working together since their university days at Bergen Academy of Art & Design and Oslo National Academy of Art. In 2000, they co-founded design group Norway Says to draw global attention to Norway’s burgeoning design scene and have remained at its forefront ever since.
Inspired by Europe’s varied industrial cultures, from the mountains of Norway to the plains of Venice, and fuelled by the possibilities of large-scale industrial thinking, Anderssen & Voll has become synonymous with New Nordic Design, and their names make frequent appearances on prestigious design awards lists, including Wallpaper*, Red Dot, iF and Dezeen. Over the years they have collaborated with some of the most celebrated design brands in the world. They move freely and fluidly from project to project, fusing their distinctive approach with brands including TAKT, Muuto, &Tradition and Audo, as well as operating their in-house sustainable homeware brand, Nedre Foss.
WHAT WE DO FOR Anderssen & Voll
Zetteler has been embedded in the Norwegian design scene for the last 10 years, working with designers across Norway on major international exhibitions such as Norwegian presence and 100% Norway. We’re lucky to have collaborated with Anderssen & Voll on numerous occasions over the years – including the launch of their first Nedre Foss product, the sculptural Ildhane candleholder – and are delighted to be back on board with the team for 2024, and beyond.
