An eclectic collection of 16 eye-catching buildings designed by eight of the world’s leading architects, Design District is London’s new home for the creative industries. With creative enterprises contributing around £100 billion to the UK each year, employing more than two million people, and growing at twice the rate of the economy as a whole, Design District has been conceived as the city’s first permanent, dedicated space for businesses and individuals operating in the sector, providing flexible spaces to work – and play – for up to 1,800 people. Set to officially launch in September 2021, Design District sets out to conserve and enhance the tradition of innovation and making that has been central to London’s identity for centuries. Its buildings – by Barozzi Veiga, David Kohn, Adam Khan, HNNA, 6A Architects, SelgasCano, Mole Architects and Architecture 00 – house a vibrant community ranging from students and start-ups to fledgling studios and ambitious international creative businesses. The district's residents range from LGBTQ+ art initiatives to independent music brands and sneaker design platforms, and include Ravensbourne University’s new Institute for Creativity and Technology, as well as the creative-sector members’ club and workspace Bureau.
As a long-standing champion and player in London’s creative sector, Zetteler is thrilled to be part of such an ambitious project. We’re developing and implementing a media strategy to launch Design District this year. Watch this space for all the latest. If you're curious about workspace, studio and workshop opportunities at Design District, email hello@designdistrict.co.uk and the team will happily talk you through the spaces available.
