In 2015, the industrial designer Petrus Palmér grew frustrated with the middle-man business model dominating the international design scene and set out to shake things up. Fast forward almost a decade, and his response – Hem – has become one of the most talked-about brands in the world. Founded in Sweden, Hem has built a global reputation as a progressive independent design platform with a penchant for pushing boundaries and taking risks. In collaboration with leading European designers and manufacturers, Hem sets out to share brilliant, imaginative furniture and home accessories, direct to design lovers all over the world. The brand’s platform for hand-made limited-editions, Hem X, sees Hem collaborate with curators, designers and artists around the world, shining a spotlight on unique, creative collector’s pieces made in editions of 100 or fewer.
Zetteler has been following Hem with rapt attention since the beginning, following the brand as it grew from creative industry disruptor to leading international name. Hem has been an active supporter of Design Can – donating profits from Hem X collection Props to the cause – so, as the brand approaches its 10th birthday, we’re really excited to be supporting them with strategy development and communications as they continue to test (and occasionally break) the ‘rules’ of premium design retail.
