What does the business world have to learn from design? Created by Propela, the boutique global speaking agency headed by Deborah Rey-Burns, ReDesign Business is a new talks programme set to launch alongside London Design Festival 2020. Following The Future Of_, Propela’s landmark 2016 conference looking forward to new developments in the worlds of design, technology, culture and science, ReDesign Business brings together a varied roster of leading creative thinkers to explore how the lessons of design can shape the future of business. The inaugural programme runs from 14–19 September, and offers a daily schedule of online talks, fireside chats and virtual experiences led by some of the most fascinating creative thinkers on the speaking circuit. Tightly curated in collaboration with creative leader Vanessa Dewey (of Mattel, Adobe and AIGA), ReDesign Business’ events range from using hand stitching as a means of meditating on time with textile artist Richard McVetis, to an exclusive digital version of biological artist Rachel Wingfeild’s sleep lab installation. Speakers include the IOD’s Charlotte Valeur making the business case for neurodiversity; designer and waste manager Sophie Thomas offering leaders a toolkit to reduce their environmental impact, and speculative designer Ted Hunt arguing for the adoption of time as a creative medium.
People often talk about the relevance of creativity to problem-solving in the commercial world, but there’s a substantial gulf between design and business. Propela’s timely new programme is set to build a much-needed bridge business and design, and we’re looking forward to helping Deborah and her team ensure their exceptional line-up of speakers reaches the right audience, during LDF and beyond.
