Founded by urbanists Pooja Agrawal and Joseph Henry, Sound Advice is the platform exposing and exploring issues of spatial inequality and discrimination in the built environment. Having met while working at the Greater London Authority, Pooja and Joseph discovered shared interests in urban design, regeneration, social enterprise and advocating for change – as well as a passion for music – and channeled these into Sound Advice. Since its launch, Sound Advice has produced podcasts, events, written work, a compelling Instagram feed and the Sound Advice Awards, which honoured undervalued and alternative spatial practitioners leading the drive towards more equitable cities. In 2021, Sound Advice published Now You Know – a compendium of essays, poems and personal reflections from 60 architectural and urban development practitioners of colour. Triggered by the disproportionate impact of Covid on people of colour; the wave of protest stemming from the murder of George Floyd, and the demonstrations of performative allyship that followed, Now You Know is a searing and insightful manifesto for meaningful change.
At Zetteler, we believe that a better world is a more equitable one, and we are fiercely committed to helping create it. We’re proud to be helping Pooja and Joseph with the launch of their first publication under the Sound Advice umbrella, and we intend to make sure as many people read it as possible.
