In 1996, Simon Alderson and Tony Cunningham channelled their love of design and experience sourcing and trading vintage furniture into a new retail enterprise. Named twentytwentyone to reflect its focus on 20th and 21st-century design, their domain on Upper Street, Islington, soon became a go-to destination for design lovers, offering furniture, lighting and accessories from Bauhaus classics and enduring mid-century masters to emerging talents and progressive new design from Japan, Asia, Scandinavia and the US. Over the years, twentytwentyone has grown its exquisitely curated empire to include a showroom on River Street, Clerkenwell, and expanded its services from physical retail, first to online commerce in the early days of the internet, and then to the creation of its own collection of classic and contemporary designs, including work by Robin Day and Barber Osgerby. The company also offers a dedicated service to professionals, working with architects, designers and commercial clients to select, supply and install furniture and lighting for hospitality, residential and institutional settings. If you’ve ever stopped for a drink in the Barbican foyer, stayed at Dormy House in the Cotswolds, or strolled through the Switch House at the Tate Modern, you’ll have seen the twentytwentyone touch. 2021 marks the brand's 25th anniversary – and the year it lives up to its name. To mark the milestone and honour its contribution to the UK’s design landscape, twentytwentyone is launching a special series of new products and limited editions over the course of the year, working with some of the leading names in modern design.
As long-standing fans of twentytwentyone and serial browsers of its shop, team Zetteler are thrilled and honoured to be working with them in a milestone year. We’re supporting the anniversary launches, and helping the brand honour its 25-year track record of championing collectable design of exceptional quality.
