Most gardens are horrible for the environment. Water intensive and out of sync with the local ecosystem, the prim and proper status quo of garden design is stuck in a Victorian past.
By contrast, Will Scholey, a garden designer who studied horticulture at Nottingham Trent University and founded his own business in 2019, creates climate-friendly landscapes that take inspiration from the atmosphere, textures and structures found in nature. He champions native species and drought-resistant plants, thereby pairing beauty with sustainability to reconnect us with our wild side.
His green fingers have won him the the RHS Young Designer of the Year award in 2022, and seen him transform a courtyard at the Hackney Winter Night Shelter, and private gardens from Fulham to Stratford and beyond. In an age of environmental awareness, it’s time for our gardens to be truly biodiverse, sustainable and responsible. Will is planting that future.
WHAT WE DO FOR Will Scholey
Proud to have Will transform some of our own little plots, we’re connecting him with the wider design community who need to take a leaf out of his book. Positive conversations are flowering for this already accomplished designer.
