So much of the wonder behind craft objects is in the making process – how each practitioner shapes raw materials into something new using age-old traditions or techniques of their own making. With this in mind, the British Craft Pavilion at London Design Fair brings together makers from around the UK, giving visitors the chance to get up close to a huge collection of hand-made objects. This year London Design Fair invited Zetteler Films to capture the experience of weaver Christabel Balfour, as she exhibited three new wallhangings at the fair – the largest she’s made to date. We followed her process, inspirations and interactions with potential customers and fans alike, to find out how what the fair meant to her.
