In 2017, papermakers G . F Smith embarked on a quest to find the World’s Favourite Colour. Following submissions from thousands of people all over the world, Marrs Green, a shade of teal inspired by Scotland’s rolling hills and lush landscape, was revealed as the most popular choice. Colour preference, however, is deeply personal and often rooted in childhood memories, family and heritage. We asked six figures from the worlds of fashion, art and design what colour means to them and, perhaps more tellingly, their favourite colours. While Sam Bompas, co-founder of experimental design studio Bompas and Parr, makes a case for Slime Green; artist and designer Camille Walala tells us how she got hooked on Yves Klein Blue.
