A World in Transition: Zetteler partners with 5x15 and Takram to discuss the future
How do we respond meaningfully in the face of climate emergency? What changes do we need to make to society? On Thursday 27 January, Zetteler, Takram and Hitachi will bring together some of the leading thinkers in the fields of climate and the environment for a very special free 5x15 online event mapping out routes to a positive, sustainable future. From 6.30pm, Takram and Hitachi will be joined by climate-justice activist Mikaela Loach, Eden Project co-founder Sir Tim Smit, writer and broadcaster Lucy Siegle, writer, stylist and consultant Aja Barber, and environmental lawyer Farhana Yamin to explore diverse perspectives on climate action and the transition to sustainability. We’re proud and excited to have co-created such an important event and helped pull together such a stellar speaker line-up. It’s sure to be a fascinating, insight-packed evening (if we do say so ourselves), so head over to Eventbrite to register.

A chair to work anywhere: Flokk launches sustainable, customisable and beautiful HÅG Tion
The last couple of years have completely changed how we work, where we work, and what we sit on while we're doing it, but the truth is that this evolved way of working has been a long time coming. The result of a unique four-way design collaboration, the HÅG Tion task chair has been created specifically for this new working landscape. Combining the talents of Flokk’s own design team with Hunting & Narud, Anderssen & Voll and BIG-GAME, the new chair is lightweight, compact, comfortable, and easily maneuverable – ideal for both home-office and office-office workspaces. The most sustainable task chair that Flokk has ever produced, the HÅG Tion is also hugely customisable, with seven recycled-plastic colours, five aluminium finishes and upholstery options including textiles from Kvadrat, Gabriel, Camira and heritage Norwegian wool manufacturer Gudbrandsdalens Uldvarefabrik. Inspired by both heritage and modern interior palettes, the range of colors and textures available allows the user to match the chair to the style of their home and/or workspace – a level of specificity rarely available for office furniture.

Taking Joy Seriously: Camille Walala’s new monograph out now
From an office block in Shoreditch to a filling station in Arkansas, a hotel in Mauritius to a gallery in Shanghai, over the last decade Camille Walala’s colourful interventions in public space around the world have transformed the human environment into a platform for positivity. We’ve been telling her she should publish a book for years, and now – hallelujah – she finally has. Published by Counter-Print, Taking Joy Seriously gathers together all the major works from Camille’s career to date, chronicling her journey from her first large-scale artwork – the gloriously patterned façade of the now Shoreditch-icon Dream Come True Building in 2015 – to the complex and ambitious sculptural structures that have come to characterise her studio’s more recent work. Including short essays on each project and a frank interview with Camille, it’s a coffee-table essential for all fans of the artist, and a tribute to her heartfelt belief in the power of art to disseminate joy. There are eight different cover designs to choose from, so why not treat yourself to the full octet?

The 22 trailblazers of 2022: Zetteler rounds up the talents to watch
Our hotlist of the creative sector’s rising stars and game changers is a veritable who’s who of the people set to shape the scene in the months to come. We’ve cast our eyes far and wide to identify 22 of the individuals we believe are set to make a major mark on their field in the year ahead. They range from artists and craftspeople to visionary urbanists changing the shape of our cities and futurists leading the transition to a more sustainable society. Although their spheres of activity may differ hugely, all 22 are united by the fact that their work is exciting, inspiring and set to make a positive difference to the world to come. They might be a pioneer of the digital fashion industry, a category-defying creative force leading a nationwide festival, or a multi-talented artist with a major new launch up their sleeve – but whatever they are, they need to be on your radar.

Tidy desks to save the world: 3D-printed workspace accessories from Bene, designed by Pearson Lloyd
If we’re serious about tackling the climate emergency, the linear model of production and consumption has to change. We can’t keep stuffing the planet with landfill. Right now, there aren’t enough international brands exploring ways of eliminating waste from their production cycles – but it’s inspiring to see that Bene is one of them. Working with designers Pearson Lloyd and the 3D printer Batch.Works, Bene launched bFriends, a collection of beautiful, colourful and highly tactile desk accessories printed from post-consumer bioplastic. As conceived by Pearson Lloyd, the collection includes pen pots, phone stands and trays for small items all of which bear the marks of their making – the characteristic ridges that come from being built up layer by layer by the 3D printing process. Each product is fully recyclable, and can also can be easily returned to Bene at the end of its lifespan to be returned to the production cycle, thus creating a completely closed manufacturing loop and representing a small but significant milestone in the journey towards a waste-free economy.

Norwegian Presence returns to Milan: Celebrated design showcase moves to iconic venue in Brera
After its digital-only edition in 2021, Norway’s leading international design show is back in Milan with a vengeance. The eighth Norwegian Presence will once again provide a platform to the nation’s top creative talents and most forward-thinking manufacturers – but with a fistful of exciting changes. Former Bo Bedre editor-in-chief Cecilie Molvær Jørgensen takes the helm of the show, which is moving to a spectacular new venue: the gorgeously be-frescoed Galleria Milano in the heart of Brera. The exhibition will explore the ways in which the challenges of the Norwegian landscape have shaped an approach to innovation and cultivated a culture of collaboration and problem-solving. A new Material Lab will celebrate the country’s abundant natural resources and underline the honest materiality that characterises much of Norwegian design. The makers and manufacturers featured will demonstrate new, climate-friendly ways to refine materials and establish sustainable production practices. The full line-up will be revealed soon, so hit us up if you’d like to know more.
