It is this very scenery, coupled with the area’s unmistakable aroma, that provided the inspiration for Laboratory Perfumes’ latest scent, and now candle, Atlas. The candle’s fragrance is based upon the nostalgia-laden aroma of pipe tobacco: layers of rum, vanilla and hay are topped with cinnamon, ginger and black pepper, wrapped in the woody warmth of cognac.
Atlas is the fifth in a range of candles by Laboratory Perfumes. While each candle is unique in its scent – ranging from Gorse, a crisp and zesty citrus with a coconut note and a hint of cardamom; to Samphire, a blend of juniper and verbena with lavender, basil and rosemary, with undertones of white amber and oak moss – all five share Laboratory Perfumes’ unique approach: a commitment to timeless, natural and gender-free products.
Laboratory Perfumes is a London-based perfumer that was founded in 2011 with the ambition to do things slightly differently. With its range of five scents, available as both fragrances and candles, the company is committed to creating scents that are free from the conventions and clichés typically associated with the perfume industry.
Laboratory Perfumes’ fragrances work equally well on men and women; are scientifically blended to deliver complex, long-lasting scents that evolve on the skin over the course of the day; and come packaged in simple, understated glass bottles. Each fragrance is blended in the UK and is made using natural oils extracted from flowers, herbs and aromatic botanicals.
