Jake & Dinos Chapman: Political postcards and outrageous bumper stickers
- by Milly Burroughs
Smothering every inch of the studio in provocative bumper stickers has never made it to the top of the priority list before, but between the political circus that has been the last few months and the arrival of Jake & Dinos Chapman’s latest additions to their online shop we’re only one demoralising news story away from redecorating the walls.
Defined by decades of deliberately shocking visual art, the Turner Prize-nominated duo have gifted us with a selection of six politically-charged bumper stickers bearing statements such as, “Ukip while immigrants do all the works” and “Not all the boris bikes in London can back-pedal us together again”.
Concisely narrating a plethora of frustrations set to tear our society apart, Phill Wilson-Perkin's brilliantly satirical postcard set Tool + Colostomy encapsulates the bowel-scraping shit-storm that is the toxic relationship between state politics and corrupt media oligarchs. Also new to the shop, these are perfect for when you can no longer express your exasperation verbally as two of the four postcards can even be sent anonymously to the addressee of your choosing.
