“We created the PYRUS cut flower garden in response to our disillusionment with the Dutch flower industry. The uniform, straight and scentless flowers that are produced in their millions and shipped all over the world are no comparison to in-season, British-grown, fragrant garden roses or sweet peas.”
Natalya Ayers and Fiona Inglis founded their botanical studio and cut flower garden PYRUS in 2011. Based in a picturesque three-acre Victorian walled garden on the outskirts of Edinburgh, the studio crafts botanical creations from the seasonal blooms grown in their gardens. There’s no mass production, no pesticides and no demands the soulless (and scentless) uniformity typical of the European flower industry. The duo work across various mediums and create pieces for events and installations, as well as for use in photography and film.
Its latest project is a collaboration with fragrance connoisseurs, Laboratory Perfumes. Given Laboratory Perfumes’ five scents as a starting point, PYRUS created three collections of photographs, each centring on a different season-based theme.
Laboratory Perfumes has just unveiled the very first series in the collection. Head over to the website now to get a whiff.
