Space Explorer: Another Space & Time is a social affair
-by Milly Burroughs
With only three weeks left to see Space Explorer’s Another Space & Time installation, it’s time to grab your phone, download the app and throw yourself into the Great American Desert. The dewy grass of London Fields and damp banks of Regent’s Canal may seem like unlikely settings for tales from arid desert plains, but Summer’s sudden arrival means that there’s no time like the present to soak up some East London sunshine and let your mind wander the lesser acknowledged corners of the American dream.
When it comes to public art the real critics are the people walking the streets and living with the installations. One of the real highlights of the project has been seeing Hackney’s local and visiting humans take to social media as they discover Another Space & Time.
“It’s been great to see how many people take pictures of the show and share them socially, there’s been quite a few people who have been so enthusiastic about what it brings to the local area, they’ve really got behind and it and sort of made it their little mission to spread to the word to others which has been great. Hearing feedback from people who’ve done the tour and what they got out of it has been so interesting, you never quite know how people are going to react until it’s out there but i’ve only had positive messages from old and young alike.” says Space Explorer founder Robin Mellor.
