The design of scent: Laboratory Perfumes x Charlotte Heal
Laboratory Perfumes has a history of working with brilliant creatives. From a collaboration with graphic designer Therese Vandling, to last September’s celebrated Sculpting Scent exhibition — a showcase of resin sculptures created by artist Zuza Mengham launched during LDF — the purveyor of fine fragrances is always looking for new and more enchanting ways to indulge in the dynamic appeal of scent.
The latest creative collaborator in question is art director Charlotte Heal. Charlotte is one of the most talked about creative directors in London and the chances are you’ve picked up a book or read a magazine whose image has been defined by her unfailing eye for aesthetic perfection. Recognised for her contemporary style and ability to transcend the senses with minimal layouts and striking imagery, Charlotte is also regarded as something of an authority on art direction and gave a fascinating talk at Here (It’s Nice That’s annual creative symposium) back in 2015 — being a die-hard attendee, Sabine was there. Don’t worry if you weren’t though, you can watch it here.
As a long-time admirer of Laboratory Perfumes’ work Charlotte was excited to work with the brand and has created a selection of stunning images that capture of the enticing essence of scent and how it communicates with the body and mind. Head over to the Laboratory Perfumes website to explore the project and read a full interview with Charlotte, about the collaboration, on the Laboratory Perfumes blog.
