Breed London is a destination for inspiring creativity. Founded by visionary Olivia Triggs ten years ago, the London-based agency represents a curated selection of high-impact, in-demand creatives. Working with artists, photographers and illustrators alike, Olivia’s hands-on and personal approach to nurturing unique talent focuses on cultural awareness and the growing role of creative visual outputs in a contemporary world.
One of the most powerful tools available to creatives like the ones represented by Breed is colour. Following our chat with Breed-represented humans Steven Wilson, Masa, Andy Gilmore and Danny Sangra, we caught up with Craig + Karl, Cat Garcia, James Joyce, Natasha Law and Anna Bu Kliewer to find out what colours they love and why as part of G . F Smith’s search for the world’s favourite colour.

What's your favourite colour and why?
It’s not a colour I wear or buy, but I went with a golden yellow colour, for warm, golden sun light, and the beauty it can bring to a place.
What does the word colour mean to you?
Real life, the association of a particular colour to a specific place, thing or memory, and the outstanding colours that appear in nature.

What's your favourite colour and why?
Blue is my favourite colour and it has been since I was a small child. The colour I’ve chosen is a really bright electric blue, it’s fluorescent and glowing and positive, I love all hues of blue though, especially the kind of grey/blue shades. You can’t really get a bad shade of blue.
What does the word colour mean to you?
I suppose it means mood or emotion or fun. As an artist you can suggest a lot with a colour in a very subtle way, you can convey a feeling. Blue instills a sense of calm which I think is why I like it so much.
What's your first or most vivid memory of colour?
I don’t know what my first ever memory of colour was but as I thought back to my childhood to answer this question I remember my parents owned a succession of bright yellow cars.

What's your favourite colour and why?
So very hard to pick a favourite colour... love them all except for certain shades of blue and purple. Going to go with this colour — I'd think of it as jade green but some people call it teal, and in some paints it's referred to as pine green which i think is nonsense as that should be way darker. I love it for many reasons. It’s my favourite colour of the 1972 BMW’s 2002 TII paint series — think they call it agave green but could also be turf green. I really appreciate those colours that are ambiguous — feel like I get two for the price of one. It looks gorgeous paired up with so many different colours — pale pink, bright yellow, grey…
What does the word colour mean to you?
Colour is the world! Paint is how we show our appreciation of the phenomenon of colour.
What's your first or most vivid memory of colour?
Early memories of colour — a pair of purple glittery wellington boots bought for me when i was about 4 from Biba. My mum’s leaf green leather platform shoes. The bright yellow 2CV6 we had.

What's your favourite colour and why?
I go through phases, but it is always a tone between green and blue. I chose green today because I am a bit of a plant addict, my friends call my room a “jungle”.
