While new client Studio Makgill showcased its collaboration with H Furniture at Designjunction’s brilliantly received new King’s Cross venue, Charlotte Frances London’s Supertalk at London Design Fair saw founders Charlotte and Camilla discussing the influence of travel on design to a captivated audience. Max Fraser’s debut as 100% Norway curator was a huge success and the show saw many of the exhibiting designers building valuable relationships with manufacturers. Design Undefined’s second coming was every inch as inspiring as we had predicted and the exhibition has been photographed and shared online by everyone and anyone who could get through the door. Visitors to The Conran Shop on Marylebone High Street were blown away by the stunning intensity of Zuza Mengham’s resin sculptures and the new Atlas scent from Laboratory Perfumes wafted delicately through the air for the duration of the exhibition.
Looking beyond the projects we’ve personally worked on, we were overwhelmed by the plethora of diversity and creativity found around every corner of London for the duration of LDF. Visitors to V&A were bowled over by Benjamin Hubert’s Foil collaboration with Braun, which saw him shining new light on the museum’s tapestry room and encouraging visitors to linger a little longer. Recycled plastic panels by Smile Plastics stole our hearts at London Design Fair and Modern Design Review returned to Shoreditch’s Ace Hotel for Ready Made Go 2, a showcase of specially commissioned pieces by Assemble, Toogood, Studio Silo, Jochen Holz, and even a climbing wall by Patternity. Just a couple of streets over, SCP celebrated the work of international designers with fascinating talks and an exhibition of work from around the world. Heading south of the river, South East Makers Club hosted great events, and even a quiz, to highlight the incredible design community of Deptford, Brockley, New Cross, and Peckham.
At the end of our busiest LDF yet we’re all ready for a long lay down in a dark room, but we’re also so grateful to everyone who worked tirelessly to make this year so incredibly special and we owe a special shout out to everyone who read, photographed and spread the word about our first ever Zetteler guide to The London Design Festival.
We’ve got big plans for the next twelve months so keep your eyes locked on our Twitter and Instagram feeds for updates.
